  • A first edition of 400,000 copies was issued with a dustjacket and price of $18.95. First edition copies will say First published in 1987 by Viking Penguin inc on the copyright page. Green boards with cream colored quarter binding and green endpapers. The dustjacket will have a subtle texture, like the scales on a dragon! Current Value = $15 - $30

Although King had shown he could easily sell larger print runs by 1987, Viking held firm to a 400,000 print run because of the cost involved in making a scaled texture of the dust jacket, There were an additional 600,000 copies produced soon after to meet demand but are missing the textured DJ.
