  • The fabled lettered edition (labeled A-ZZ). The lettered copies were never available for sale to the public. $9,000-$11,000 (est)

  • The limited edition measures 7.5 x 9.5 x 3.25 inches and is leather bound. Comes with a black wooden box (instead of a slipcase) Many have described it as the size of a family Bible. Very desirable among collectors and widely held as the most beautiful book bearing Stephen King's name. Although there always seems to be someone selling a copy, get ready to pay for this one, as you'll never find it for sale for less than $1,700 (or if you do you'd better get it ASAP!) Issue price $325, now $3,750-$4,750

From the production director at Doubleday "The 52 lettered tomes were not available to the public, as they served as internal samples, used for various marketing purposes.  I was very disappointed in the final box specifications, as I wanted to have the box shaped as a coffin.  DD thought that would be too cumbersome on the store shelves...  I also wanted the title applied to the box top, as a brass oval, with brass tacks securing it to the box.  Again, that didn't make the final cut."
